11,000 Nigerian Refugees Return From Niger Republic

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has so far registered a total of 11, 449 Nigerian returnees from the Republic of Niger at the transit camp in Geidam, Yobe State and transported about 7, 000 of them to their various states as at yesterday.

In a statement signed by the press officer of the agency, Ezekiel Manzo, it said, "Transportation of the returnees continues as more high capacity buses and vehicles have been engaged by NEMA to fully transport them to their various states even as the agency is also continuing with the provision of basic supports at the transit camp."

According to Manzo, the registration shows that the returnees are identified to be Nigerians from Borno, Taraba, Jigawa, Kano, Benue, Bauchi, Sokoto, Niger, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Yobe, Gombe, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Imo, and Delta states.

Part of the statement also noted that the Director General of NEMA, Muhammad Sani Sidi promised that the agency is fully committed to the transportation of the returnees to their states and affirmed that the staff would remain at the transit camp until the last person leaves.

FG Delivers Relief Materials To 112, 000 In N/East

The federal government has said that it is delivering relief and humanitarian materials to displaced persons and victims of Boko Haram insurgency under the Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE).

This was made known by the chairman of PINE, Prof. Soji Adelaja who also chairs the Special Committee on the Resettlement and Rehabilitation. .of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

He noted that the on-going effort by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Red Cross and other partners was a deliberate measure to cushion the suffering of displaced people in the region.
