Yangon Region Will Have Full Electricity Capacity in 2020-21 FY: Minister

The regional government is planning to supply full coverage of electricity in the region in 2020-21 FY, said Win Khaing, Union Minister for Electricity and Energy in a meeting held at the office of Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC) on February 2.

The minister said the ministry is planning to implement to supply electricity to 55 per cent of the population in 2020-21 and to increase the electricity supply, to reduce the electricity blackout time, to stabilize the voltage system and to supply electricity with full voltage.

The ministry is producing about 3,586 megawatts and Yangon Region is using about 1,543 megawatts. It is about half of electricity consumed by the country and the YESC is targeting to provide full electricity capacity to Yangon Region in 2020-21 FY.

He said the ministry is planning to upgrade sub-power stations and power grids and the government staffs need to submit the actual situations in their townships. All need to try to provide better services for the people.
