In an emotion laden ceremony on Sunday, about 112 children were reunited with 49 families of internally displaced persons sheltered in at a camp in Edo State.

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, who hosted the parents and children to a sumptuous launch at the Banquet Hall in Government House, Benin City, urged the Armed Forces to intensify efforts to bring insurgency in the northern part of the country to an end for families to come together.

The governor, who expressed confidence in the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in tackling the Boko Haram menace, however, urged Nigerians to be their brothers’ keepers irrespective of tribe, religion or creed.

‎One of the parents, Ali Yakubu, from Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, who has 4 children at the camp, said he was lucky to be alive and to see his children, adding that he lost all his sibling to Boko Haram activities.

Justina Ali, another displaced person, thanked Gov. Oshiomhole and Pastor Solomon Folunrunsho for taking care of them at the camp.

Lukas Saidu, a parent, also thanked the ‎governor for making Edo State a home for the displaced persons and commended him for championing what he described as a true spirit of one Nigeria.

The Edo State governor had during his last visit to the camp promised to build more classrooms and accommodation for the IDPs just as he donated trailer load of rice and other food items to them.
