South Sudan police says it is working together with aid agencies to form a police unit that will provide protection to refugees in camps around the country.

According to UNHCR, South Sudan is hosting over 250,000 refugees from the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia and Sudan.

They include over 220,000 Sudanese refugees from the Blue Nile and South Kordofan regions.

Pieng Deng Kuol, Inspector General of Police, told the refugees to endure whatever difficult situations they may face.

“When you are in other countries or other place you definitely will get difficulties, you will get somebody insulting you, you will get somebody making a lot of nonsense to you, please endure,” he said.

General Kuol was speaking during the celebrations of the World Refugees’ Day yesterday in Nyakuron Culture Center.
