Borena, Ethiopia – August 2020: COVID-19 rapid needs assessment of older people

Type de document: Rapports et evaluations , COVID-19
Langue(s): English
In Ethiopia older people, especially those living in refugee camps, were already severely challenged by the impact of frequent natural disasters, conflict, displacement and concurrent disease outbreaks prior to the outbreak of the pandemic. In recognition of the increased risk created by COVID-19, HelpAge conducted a Rapid Needs Assessment, in Borena's Oromia Region, to help identify what support older people need. 71% of the respondents confirmed that their business/livelihood has been affected since the outbreak of COVID-19. Due to this, 56% of the respondents reported to have sources of incomes from humanitarian agencies. Only 15% of them are subsidising their livelihood with agricultural/livestock activities, and 10% of them have their own business in the IDP site.
