South Sudan Government Officials, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee or UNHCR, refugees and ordinary citizens in Juba are celebrating the World Refugee Day today Saturday at Nyökurön Cultural Centre.

UNHCR in a statement says it is a special day to honor the courage, strength and resilience of the more than 50 million people around the world forced to flee their homes due to wars or human rights abuses.

There are more than a quarter of a million refugees in South Sudan mostly from South Kordofan and Blue Nile in Sudan, and 1.5 million internally displaced.
