Around 2,000 people ran on Sunday to celebrate the integration between Venezuelans and the population of Manaus, one of the main destinations for refugees and migrants from Venezuela, who seek protection and assistance in Brazil.

The fraternization took place during the unpublished Manaus #ComOsRefugiados race, a five-kilometer journey that took place on Ponta Negra Beach, one of the tourist attractions in the Amazon capital.

The activity was organized by the City of Manaus and UNHCR (United Nations Agency for Refugees), with the support of the European Union, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Manaus Solidarity Fund. Through its Instrument for the Contribution to Stability and Peace (IcSP), the European Union has promoted, since July 2018, activities that encourage harmonious coexistence between Venezuelans and host communities - and the race was one of these activities.
