  • Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development - Jordan

ACTED has been working in Jordan since 2005, supporting projects across the Middle East and North Africa. In 2011 ACTED became fully operational in Jordan through a youth and sexual reproductive health project. Following the influx of displaced Syrians into Jordan into 2012, ACTED has been working in both camps and host communities, providing emergency water, hygiene, cash, shelter and sanitation assistance to Syrians and vulnerable Jordanians, as well as addressing information gaps through the REACH initiative. This targeted, needs-based humanitarian assistance is being complemented by a longer-term focus on recovery and rehabilitation, with medium-term interventions focusing on shelter and livelihoods. Addressing the wider development context in Jordan, ACTED’s emphasis is on supporting and strengthening civil society and reproductive health and rights, with a focus on youth and gender issues.

ACTED (Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development) is a non-governmental organization founded in 1993 with headquarters in Paris, France. Independent, private and not-for-profit, ACTED respects a strict political and religious impartiality and operates according to principles of non-discrimination and transparency in 33 countries around the world. Our Mission: Adaptability, Efficiency and Flexibility for Results ACTED responds to emergencies, provides recovery and rehabilitation support and contributes to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through interventions that seek to cover multiple aspects of humanitarian and development crises through a multidisciplinary approach. For 20 years, our intervention areas have been among the poorest, most vulnerable and remote in the world and we adapt out strategies to each context in order to achieve the most direct positive impact with the most efficient use of resources. ACTED is committed to accountability and quality management, certified as an active member of HAP International. Our Approach: To guarantee the link between Emergency, Rehabilitation and Development ACTED’s vision is to guarantee the link between emergency, rehabilitation and development based on the contiguum model. ACTED often establishes a presence in response to a disaster or crisis where ACTED meets basic needs through emergency response but goes beyond them by remaining in the field after emergencies to develop needs-based programming to meet the recovery and development goals of communities we work with. As a principle, ACTED starts pursuing rehabilitation and (return-to) development measures immediately after the start of and alongside its relief activities.
