Sofia is 10 years old and for two years, she has lived as a refugee in Mexico. Her story as a refugee girl begins the day her parents told her to pack everything, since they were moving on the very next day. Sofia packed some toys and clothes, but also a Venezuelan flag, which she folded in her backpack, and since then displays with pride.

With a certain timidity, Sofia admits that she did not think her drawing would be a winner in the contest called by UNHCR, Conapred and the CDHDF. The jury did not know if the participants were refugees or not. But who better than a girl like Sofia to represent what Mexico means to her, after it has welcomed her and her family. Like every refugee, this Venezuelan girl feels very grateful to the country that has received her, but at the same time, admits that she misses her relatives who remain in Venezuela, like her grandmother and brother.
