Taraba State Police Commissioner, Mr. Shaba Alkali yesterday confirmed the arrest of two Boko Haram Commanders, Abdulmumuni Abdullahi and Ali Audu (alias Dungu), who are among the 100 terrorists declared wanted by the military. Alkali, who stated this in his office in Jalingo while briefing journalists on the achievements of the command in the past month, said Ali Audu was arrested in Tella in Gassol Local Government on February 22, while Abdulmumuni Abdullahi was arrested in Bali on March 5. According to the commissioner, the two suspects have since been handed over to the Nigerian Army in Yobe State. He explained that the police, acting on credible information arrested the Boko Haram commanders from their hideouts in the state.

“We are not relenting in our efforts to keep Taraba safe, now that Boko Haram elements are considering the state a safe haven,” he said. The police chief further confirmed the influx of strange people in trucks into the state, who he said, are posing security threat to the people and vowed to flush them out wherever they may be. It was gathered that Ali Audu was pretending to be a suya seller, before he was picked up by the police. It would be recalled that Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, representing Taraba South had recently raised the alarm over the influx of Boko Haram elements into the state and even sponsored a motion on the floor of the senate on the issue. Another Boko Haram kingpin, Kabiru Sokoto, the mastermind of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church bombing in Madala Niger State on Christmas eve of 2011, was re-arrested in Sabon-Gida near Mutum Biyu in 2012 by operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS
