Assessment of Forest Resource Degradation and Intervention Options in Refugee-Hosting Areas of Western and Southwestern Uganda

Document Type: Reports and Assessments
Document Language: English
Between February and July 2019, the World Bank commissioned the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to undertake an ‘Assessment of Forest Resource Degradation and Intervention Options in Refugee-Hosting Areas of Western and Southwestern Uganda’. This was an extension of a similar assessment undertaken in 2018 in the West Nile region. The aim was to determine the environmental impacts of the refugee influx, with a focus on forest resources, and propose intervention options to mitigate pressure on the environment and support energy access for both refugee and host communities.
