The health emergency by COVID-19, declared by the National Government in March 2020, compounded the two major crisis that Colombia is currently facing: the large scale arrival of refugees and migrants from Venezuela, and the persistence of internal conflict in some areas of the country, exacerbating the impacts and, consequently, the humanitarian and protection needs of the populations of interest in the country, including refugees, people facing (the risk of) statelessness, Colombian refugees returning to the country, those internally displaced, and their host communities.
UNHCR has reinforced and complemented the actions of the national and local authorities to address these needs and to this end has deployed a response with specific interventions to protect and integrate its population of interest, and further strengthening the capacities of State’s institutions and improving communities’ empowerment/resilience.
This website contains the key figures available on the situation, as well as relevant analysis on the conditions of the population of concern and UNHCR's response.
