UNHCR wants education, economic rehabilitation of IDPs in Yobe

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has appealed to stakeholders to support the rights of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Yobe with opportunities to rebuild their lives.
The Head, UNHCR in Yobe Mr. Gabriel Idoko, who made this appeal on Tuesday at the commemoration of the 2017 World Refugee Day in Damaturu, said education, economic rehabilitation and safe living condition are key in the rebuilding process.
"The displaced persons deserve to continue with their education and provided with economic support for safe living conditions.
"This is a collective responsibility, the society needs to provide them with opportunities to rebuild their lives, reintegrate them and facilitate their economic rehabilitation for them to return to normalcy.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Alhaji Idi Jidawa, appreciated the rate at which normalcy was returning to the returnees' communities while calling for collective resolution and cooperation of every member of the society to rebuild the lives of the displaced persons.
